Kyle Shanahan seems drunk at the interview, which will give more confidence to 49ers fans.

Here is the interview clip shared through NFL official X.

Jed York, CEO of San Francisco 49ers revealed a new secret he says “Kyle Shanahan knew Brock Purdy was best QB on team before 2022 season

Shanahan, perhaps fueled by the excitement of the Super Bowl atmosphere, was reportedly inebriated when he made the statement.

The unexpected declaration sparked a flurry of reactions among fans and analysts alike, with many questioning Shanahan’s judgment and whether his remarks were genuine or simply a product of the moment.

Despite the controversy, Shanahan’s comments added an unexpected twist to the pre-game festivities, injecting an extra dose of intrigue into the highly anticipated matchup.

“Well, it’s funny to hear Jed say that because it wasn’t the smartest moment I’ve ever had.” Shanahan said. Kyle Shanahan reflects on a past interaction with team owner Jed York, admitting it wasn’t his finest moment.

“I mean, when the owner comes in after training camp practice and asks about the quarterback, he wants to know about the starter or the second-stringer, not the third guy. So when I blurted out that our third guy was the best, it wasn’t what he wanted to hear.”

Shanahan recalls the context of his remark, highlighting how it wasn’t the appropriate response to Jed York’s inquiry.

“But that was just because Brock was so good right away with every rep he got; he was always consistent, even with just a few opportunities.” Shanahan explains his praise for Brock Purdy, emphasizing the quarterback’s immediate impact and consistency during practice.

“But if you know that for a fact, I mean then you do what you do right away. But he was the best, and every time he got a little more reps, it was the same as when he got fewer.” Shanahan acknowledges his confidence in Purdy’s abilities and how it remained consistent regardless of the number of repetitions he received.

“And so when it was all said and done, and he got a lot of playing time, it was like, oh, this looks exactly like what I told you when I was irritated.”

He further said in interview

Shanahan reflects on how Purdy’s performance in games validated his earlier assessment, despite the initial frustration he caused with his comment.

“That’s why after his seven games, his rookie year, even when he got hurt, we knew what we had because he’d been that way in practice every day, and it was the exact same way in the game.” Shanahan highlights Purdy’s consistency in both practice and game situations, underscoring the quarterback’s value to the team.
