Mexico has become the first Concacaf team to defeat the US Women Soccer Team on American soil since Canada on November 11, 2000. The U.S., previously unbeaten in 80 consecutive home matches against Concacaf opposition (with 78 wins and 2 draws), saw their remarkable streak come to an end. This victory, coupled with Mexico’s impressive performance in the Gold Cup, cements their status as a force to be reckoned with in women’s soccer.
After the historic lost, in post game interview USWNT Sam Coffey said,
“We of course are going to feel this.. but I know we are going to wake up tomorrow and it’s going to be back to work.”
