Tom Brady Reacted on IG to The Suspension of Kazee for Hit Colts’ QB Pittman Jr.

NFL legend Tom Brady commented to the Kazee suspension in a post shared by SportsCenter IG.

Tom Brady said,

Nobody likes seeing players get hurt, But hard hits happen. QBs should not be throwing the ball in the areas where they are exposing their own teammates to these type of hits. Coaches need to coach better, QBs needs to read coverages and throw the ball to the right places and defenders should aim for the right hitting areas. To put the blame on the defense player all the time is just flat out wrong. Need better QB play!! It’s not OK QBs to get WRs hit because of bad decisions!

NFL Rules for Suspension of Hit A Player

According to Rule 12, Section 2, Article 9 (b)(1), it’s considered a foul if a player forcefully hits a defenseless player’s head or neck area with the helmet, facemask, forearm, or shoulder. This applies even if the initial contact is lower than the player’s neck, and whether or not the defensive player also uses their arms to tackle the defenseless player.

Article 9 (a)(3) adds that a player in a defenseless posture includes someone attempting to catch a pass who hasn’t had time to clearly become a runner.

Moreover, Rule 12, Section 2, Article 9 emphasizes that a player initiating contact against a defenseless opponent must avoid any illegal acts. There’s a strict liability standard for any contact against an opponent, regardless of the opponent’s body position or actions, such as ducking the head or curling up the body in anticipation of contact.
