After the surprising release of wide receiver Deven Thompkins by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on May 30, 2024, he is now accused of domestic violence by his soon-to-be ex-wife, Maria Castilhos.
Buccaneers waived Thompkins due to his injury, according to Buccaneers Communication (Official Twitter account of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Communications Department).
The decision to release Thompkins comes amidst serious accusations leveled against him by Castilhos, who claims that he nearly beat her to death and has a history of violence, as stated in the TikTok video shared by Maria Castilhos.
Castilhos, who is also the mother of Thompkins’ two children, spoke out about the alleged abuse and shared photos showing bruises on her body and also revealed injuries to her face and arm, saying, “I can’t fully share my testimony yet.“

Who is Deven Thompkins Wife Maria Castilho?
Maria Castilhos, a devout Christian who occasionally shares her beliefs through TikTok videos, keeps her personal life private, including details about her background and parents. She met former Buccaneers player Deven Thompkins during high school in Fort Myers, Florida, and they began dating. At the age of 17, Castilhos and Thompkins got engaged, and just before graduating.
