Who was the first black quarterback for New York Giants?

Before Taylor, Geno Smith was the first quarterback for the Giants since they started in 1995. Smith made history when he started a game in 2017 for the Giants. The Giants are the last team who started a black quarterback in 2017, after the New England Patriots in 2016 and the Indianapolis Colts in 2015.

Smith’s start was infamous because he came into the game in relief of Eli Manning in the fourth quarter and finished only two incomplete passes. The game was played against the Los Angeles Rams and it concluded in a 51-17 loss to the Giants.
