A surprise came from Aaron Rodgers this week as he dropped hints about a potential comeback to the field in 2023, leaving fans intrigued by the possibility.
In the season opener, the New York Jets’ quarterback faced a setback, enduring a torn Achilles tendon just a few plays into the game. While this type of injury is typically seen as season-ending, Rodgers has shared with The Pat McAfee Show that he’s not setting any specific return timelines and intends to assess his condition in a couple of months.
In response to questions about Rodgers’ ambitious target, Jets’ head coach Robert Saleh mentioned that such determination is simply a reflection of the four-time MVP’s mindset.
“I think he gets stronger when people say, ‘You can’t,’” Saleh said (via SNY TV). “When people doubt him, I think he’s the type of guy that gets stronger. I think that’s why I like him so much — because when someone tells me I can’t do something, well, watch me. And it’s the same thing (with Rodgers).
“He’s got that mindset where, if someone tells him he’s not capable or something’s impossible, he’s like, ‘You’ll see.’ And so, no, I don’t put it past him.”
On September 15th, Rodgers had surgery on his left Achilles. While the usual recovery period for this type of injury ranges from six to twelve months, Rodgers is harboring much more optimism about his return.
