How much do the Broncos owe Russell Wilson? Exploring the Financial Dynamics of Wilson’s Lucrative Contract

The Denver Broncos are facing a major financial commitment after securing Russell Wilson’s lucrative contract.

Wilson sealed a massive 5-year deal worth a whopping $242,588,236, featuring a hefty $50,000,000 signing bonus and a staggering $161,000,000 guaranteed. With an average annual salary of $48,517,647, Wilson stands as one of the highest-paid players in the league.

Heading into the 2024 season, Wilson is slated to receive a base salary of $17,000,000, complemented by a significant signing bonus of $22,000,000.

Yet, the Broncos can’t ignore the financial burden that comes with Wilson’s contract. His deal contributes to a substantial cap hit of $35,400,000, paired with an eye-watering dead cap value of $85,000,000.

Despite the hefty financial investment, the Broncos are banking heavily on Wilson’s skills to deliver on the field and validate their substantial commitment.

Before offering this contract, the Broncos shared a post on their official X account on March 5, 2024.

We’ve notified QB Russell Wilson that he will be released after the league year begins March 13.
